We all feel sad from time to time, but some people hit an emotional low and stay there for weeks, months, and even years, and sometimes without any apparent reason. Depression isn't only a low mood; it's a serious condition that strongly affects our physical and mental health. It shapes the way we view ourselves and the world, making day-to-day life incredibly difficult to manage. Sometimes depression occurs alone and other times it's part of a bigger disorder (for example, Bipolar disorder). Treating these and other similar conditions often involves antidepressants, and there's a never-ending debate about this practice. People are constantly arguing whether the results in patients these drugs produce can be attributed to the placebo effect or achieved with alternate methods. Recently, a Facebook page that describes itself as a "hub for free thinking" has shared their take on the subject. The Free Thought Project has suggested people should "get lost in nature" if they want to "find themselves," calling antidepressants a "lifelong addiction." This statement, however, has caught the eyes of a person suffering from the disorder. Unable to stay quiet, they decided to respond to the statement.
