Over the past 10 years designer Natalie Hutton has worked on her debut collection 'Synaesthetics'.
Editing audio visual crime scene evidence by day and stitching by night. Some of the works in the collection have taken over 500 hours of hand stitching alone. Others contain over 10,000 hand painted and wired metallic scales which have been meticulously hand stitched in place over the course of 3 years .
The Echoplex gown for example, contains 50 meters of pleated silk panels, each one (40 in total) took between 8-12 hours to hand stitch into honeycomb like grids before it was sculpted into its unique form.
Synaesthesia, the term used to describe the crossing of senses and in Natalie Hutton's case, the ability to see shapes and movement to the sounds of music is the inspiration behind her collection of works.
Working under the name Claudia Savage, each design is a labor intensive mission intended to be enjoyed as both fabric sculpture and wearable art.
