Some illustrations make you laugh at first, then make you stop and think once you look a little closer. That’s exactly what Polish artist Paweł Kuczyński does with his satirical work, using clever visual ideas to comment on social, political, and cultural issues around us.

Kuczyński was born in 1976 and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. He began creating satirical illustrations in 2004, and his work has since earned dozens of prizes and distinctions in international competitions. Over the years, he has built a distinctive style that allows him to tackle serious subjects without saying a single word.
Technology, social media, inequality, poverty, war, environmental problems, and our everyday habits are just some of the topics that appear in his illustrations. His work often takes something familiar and gives it an unexpected twist, making us question the things we have come to accept as normal.
