Bosco the Yarn Sloth is an original pattern for crochet made by Kati Brown. She fell in love with the Hoffmann's Two-Toed Sloth while visiting the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Hoffmann's Two-Toed Sloth is larger than the Three-Toed sloth and does not have the familiar "mask" around the eyes. But what won Kati over was that adorable, almost bear-like face.

Kati is always looking for inspiration for her next amigurumi design. "Amigurumi" are dolls or stuffed animals made using crochet. Kati designs these crochet stuffed animals and publishes the patterns for them on her blog, in magazines, and in her Etsy shop, hookedbykati.etsy.com.
After a wonderful day at the zoo watching the real Bosco (one of two Hoffmann's Two-Toed Sloths at the zoo) as he ate sweet potatoes and generally charmed the crowd, it was no surprise that Kati immediately got to work bringing Yarn Bosco to life.
Since his creation, Bosco the Yarn Sloth has been picking up a following on Instagram through Kati's handle (@hookedbykati), and is developing his own to keep up with his growing popularity. He is becoming a local icon and can be seen roaming around Greeley, Colorado, his (and Kati's) hometown.
But with the movement growing, Bosco could use a few more dopplegangers to carry on his dreams of being a jet-setting yarn sloth.
