He'll have a wonderful career in politics. He may even become the president of the USA in some years' time... If there's elections ever again.

This was five years ago. I would love to read that this young woman has achieved so many great things and has had zero contact with that monster of a “father.” I also sincerely hope that her grandparents enjoyed her success and continue to do so. I lost hope that her success”father” is now living in a hovel with his evil girlfriend without any poor children as that would be a truly horrific continuation of this awful tale.
It’s extremely odd behavior and the husband and friend sound horrible. I’d kick him to the curb and find a good lawyer.

Him getting angry and defensive is a HUGE tell. Obviously it also depends on how OP's phrasing, tone, etc. But typically guilty people react to "innocent" things in this way.
Pretty much all of these are what I would expect... Except for Hillary. It's a shame she was painted as such a shrew by the media. I still think she would've made an excellent president.
