they uphold a system where they can MURDER people and not face charges, they don't even have to "save" people (In the supreme court cases DeShaney vs. Winnebago and Town of Castle Rock vs. Gonzales, the supreme court has ruled that police are not obligated to provide protection to citizens. In other words, police are well within their rights to choose when to protect the lives and property of others — even when a threat is apparent.) they also go through less than a year of training in order to become officers (people walking around the streets with weapons go through less than 1 year of training). Also, officers are really quick to defend other officers and there is literal video evidence of cops harassing protesters with tear gas and rubber bullets which can cause permanent damage to people, then after they gas and shoot protesters, they run around collecting evidence so that they can't be taken to court. to yeah, they kinda are. :)
