My problem is that I love drawing underwater flowy hair and anything with organic lines. Mermaids fit the bill perfectly.
Thank you and crazy you should mention pre-raphaelite, because that's mentioned on my website bio. I am definitely influenced by the luminosity and flowing organic nature of that art period. :) Spot on.

chalk pastels might not be popular but they're one of my favourite choices too. your work looks amazing, you're very talented, and do i see some influence of the pre-raphaelite style? excellent. love it.
