30 People With Emotionally Draining Jobs Share Stories Of Their Best Days At Work
30 People With Emotionally Draining Jobs Share Stories Of Their Best Days At Work

I haven’t had serious burns but when I was a 21yo college student I had a similar experience with a kind doctors final words that stuck with me. I’d gone to the ER for severe stomach pain that was basically dismissed and I was sent home. I returned later that evening In excruciating pain and initially felt ignored again. One nurse recognized me from earlier and jumped me to the front of the line so to speak. The first thing the new er dr said to me was “I’m dr___. I’m going to get you some really good pain meds and then we can figure out what’s going on.” Within two hours I was in surgery because my intestines had ruptured from a blockage and I was septic. I spent 2months in icu. I almost died and it could have been avoided by the first dr taking me seriously and finding the blockage before my intestines tore. The day I left the hospital my nurses arranged for me to meet the er dr that saw me the second time. I cried like a baby thanking him.

Last year I got a sliver of tempered glass from a cellphone cover impaled directly under and into my nail bed. It was one of the most shockingly excruciating pains I’ve ever had. There was a brief moment where I though I could suck it up and with a tweezers pull it out. Bad idea. As soon as I touched it i screamed and almost passed out from the pain. Went to urgent care where they had to do the same as the OP, slice into my nail and finger to remove it.

Someone Asks Whether Dog Owners Would Give 5 Years Of Their Life To Their Dog, And This Reply Goes Viral
Someone Asks Whether Dog Owners Would Give 5 Years Of Their Life To Their Dog, And This Reply Goes Viral

Two years ago I was in an abusive relationship and my (now)ex boyfriend almost killed me. He has severe PTSD and in a drunken-blackout rage started punching me in the face. My 9lbs chihuahua who also loved him went after him -attacked his legs, bit through his pants and didn’t leg go until he kicked her off. The distraction of her attack (she’s a tiny dog she couldn’t do much) but it was enough to snap him out of his blackout and realize what he had done. He called 911, I had to have surgery on my face and hand but my wonderful little chi was just fine. I have no doubt she saved my life that night. Six months later I found a mass on her, it ended up being malignant... I spent every penny I had and went into even more debt to get her the surgery and care she needed and is doing great! — also left that relationship that night, should have done it sooner.
