I really hate the way dealing with cancer is framed as a battle. "He fought hard but it wasn't enough..." Can the poster not see how horrible and demeaning that is? Its suggesting he didn't try hard enough, or that he was weak and a failure. When people "lose their fight" with cancer, phrasing it like that makes it sound like its their fault. I'm technically a cancer survivor-very early stage brèast, and was lucky enough to have had it picked up on screening and treatment was relatively straightforward (compared to many other patients). I was lucky-my success at dealing with it was nothing at all to do with how I fought, or how brave I was, it was down to pure luck.
