Grumpy British middle-aged nerd living in France with an equally grumpy cat. My profile picture is the cat that owns this human. She's way better looking than I am. She is called Anna.

Well, umm, shiiiiit. 💩 This wasn't on my BP Bingo card.

Yes, it was too confusing and too upsetting. These are the type of people I do my best to avoid in real life. Don't want to see them here.

As a Brit, disappointing no mention of the BBC Micro/Master that was a ubiquitous fixture in schools across the country (and later the Archimedes, but by then there was competition from PCs).

I have a Minitel! Actually I have three - M1 (basic and a bit crappy), M2 (better but large) and a Magis (nice design but flickery screen). Over the summer holiday I had the crazy idea of hooking a microcontroller to the phone socket to inject pulses at specific frequencies in order to make the Minitel think it was connected to a remote service. It worked! (only on the Magis, because that has a simpler modem that doesn't monitor for the presence of line current).

" remembered to wash our feet, there’s apparently a much smaller culprit quietly sitting a few inches higher" If your ears are a few inches above your feet, you were assembled very wrongly.

But the thing that makes me suspicious is dad suing for emotional trauma, clinic countersuing over the medical device, but the OP *not* suing over massively negligent parent allowing their bratty crotchwomble to endanger another child's life? It's a cardiology unit, FFS. And for him to grab the thing claiming it's his child's toy - I'd struggle to think of any sane judge that wouldn't throw the book *and* the gavel at such an absolute gobshite. And, yet....

As a percentage of earnings, do you think that billionaires pay the same level of tax as us little people? If not, why not? And, consider, the money they earn comes from somewhere. Suppressed wages for employees and increased prices of products are two easy ways to maximise revenues. So, who is stealing who's labour?

I don't believe that gravity is a thing. I think that it is a property of things, like temperature. Everything has a little bit of gravity, but you only notice this when there's enough of it to make space-time wobble (like celestial body sized amounts).

They didn't leave to get religious freedom. They left to escape the religious freedom there which they so disapproved of.

I have a p**p grinder. It is fitted to the back of the toilet in a way that would require breaking bones to be able to touch, never mind be near enough to the blades to be dangerous.

Might need to tweak the satellite dish just a touch.
