I still miss DVDs from Netflix. They had a catalogue of old films and foreign films that you can't find on any streaming service.

I do too. In our town it was the only auto service place open on Sundays.

Unions are the way to go. They do protect employees but also provides frameworks for managing people. I used to explain this to my staff annually, "The agreement protects you but, if you turn to page 63, it also outlines the disciplinary steps I have to and will follow if you mess up."
