Humans have been using animal skins and furs for thousands of years. They are dried into a preserved state. So long as you don’t let them stay wet for long periods, they can last a long time. This has gone on for so long that people still see it as perfectly normal, even when they no longer need to kill animals for clothing. That’s why there are activists trying to stop the fur trade, among other things, because it’s generally entirely unnecessary (barring some isolated tribal communities still surviving off the land and the animals, which is very much not common).
The most destructive force in the Universe....HUMANS! ARGGGGG!
