My dad used to work with a man like this. He came home one day and told us about the horrific vitriol this guy was spewing, and I asked him if he called the guy out for it, went to HR, anything... He didn't. He claimed that he didn't want to start drama because he worked with the guy... Just from my personal experience with men, A) it's statistically likely that the average guy has or will interact with a man like this at some point, and B) otherwise decent men rarely call this behavior out, even when it's blatantly obvious. Also, if we assume that a non-dangerous man is dangerous, at worst, his feelings get hurt. If we assume a dangerous man is non-dangerous, we potentially end up in a body bag. We -have- to assume the worst.

I would've called the police... If this guy is cruel to one animal, he could be cruel to others - not to mention that he could also become a*****e to his partner(s) in the future. I feel like creating a paper trail of his a-holiness would've been a good idea.

This is not a man who will stand by you "for better or worse". If you get critically ill, cancer, accident, anything that incapacitates you, he will abandon you. Personally, I wouldn't be waiting for that moment.

Nobody can make this decision for you. Trust your gut instinct. You will know. Wishing you good things.
