I can think of lots of examples. I know someone who works in a tourist town, and they used to think that American tourists were annoying... but then they realized it was just a small percentage that were REALLY loud and annoying, and they failed to notice all the quiet polite ones that blended into the crowd. If you look at a protest, the majority of people are typically there because they believe in the cause, but you will have a minority who want to throw rocks through windows, and are using the protest as an excuse... and they will be the ones that show up on the news.
