Forgive me, but it looks like the young lady next to him is texting about it. My modern brain was interpreting incorrectly.

I've been to Istanbul twice, three times in Turkey total. It's a fascinating place with wonderful architecture and very friendly people. Unfortunately, you will find some very aggressive merchants near the mosques trying to get you into their stores, but overall most people are very helpful and personable. I will say that the prayer music that plays five times a day can be very loud, especially the early morning one. The shopping is also good, especially if you like to barter at the Grand Bazaar. And the food is also very tasty, and you always get way more than you can finish. Prices are also very good. I'd recommend a visit to Istanbul, and the rest of the country, to anyone. The beaches in Turkey are some of the most beautiful in the world. And don't forget to try the raki!
