Does size matter? How does size limitation have an impact on an artist’s style? When it comes to making art, working small is as challenging and exciting as working big. Eighty-nine artists from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are strutting their small stuff in this art exhibit, Surrender to Small at V°LITION Gallery in Orangeburg, New York. Every artist has recalibrated their individuality and explored new possibilities through their small artwork which are no larger than 12” x 12”.
In my role as curator, since the conception of this exhibit I have said “Small is beautiful. This art exhibit will not only convey how important a role size plays on expressing an artist’s vision, but it also highlights the style of each artist which may have been harder for viewers to see in their larger work”.
