The list of oldest countries in the world is overwhelmed by spacious nations such as Greece, China, Egypt, France or Portugal to name a few. Then, there is also San Marino. With only 61 square km in size (23.5 square miles), San Marino is the home of slightly more than 30,000 inhabitants. But, it remains an independent country with its own laws and Government. South of the Italian city of Rimini, in the region of Emilia-Romagna, this tiny European country is embraced by the borders of Italy on all sides.

1. If all the citizens of San Marino went to Wembley Stadium, there would be still 56,318 seats left empty!
2. If you wish to have the San Marino stamp in your passport, you are obliged to pay a governmental fee of EUR 5.
3. This country is the home to the Maranello Rossi-Ferrari Museum, dedicated to the history, life and the automobiles of Enzo Ferrari. The venue displays 25 Ferrari cars, the most important one being the 250 GTO Red that has won the World Championship thrice.
