On Monday the 17th of August, we launched our social media campaign #notmylabel - #thisisme. The campaign consists of 16 portraits telling 8 personal stories about discrimination and prejudice. A set of pictures is shared on our Facebook- and Instagram page every day -until the 24th-.
The campaign is meant to create a meaningful discussion about how we use labels in our everyday lives. What labels do we give younger generation and to what effect?
Recent events taught us that there still has to be done a lot in order to create a truly inclusive society. Children are confronted with prejudice, discrimination and racism early on. Many of us are done with these labels. For instance, a recent Dutch petition about the wish to pay more attention to racism in the curriculum was signed over 60.000 times in just a couple of days.
The social media campaign, made by All-in, has been created by volunteers entirely. The portraits invite the public to look further than appearance and can be followed via their social media pages.
