Bored Panda wanted to learn more about the comic, so we reached out to the artist once again with a few more questions. When asked to describe his strip in just three words, Ryan summed it up as “silly little jokes.”
Next, the cartoonist shared the most unexpected source of inspiration he’s ever used for a comic: “I just recently used a TIL Reddit post as inspiration, it brought me to the lemon Wikipedia page where I found out most citrus is actually just crossbreeding between 3 different fruits. I love me some biology.”
We were also curious if Ryan had ever scrapped a comic idea because it felt too weird or risky. Here’s what he had to say: “I don’t know about weird or risky, but I’ve had a whole long-form comic premise completely scrapped because I actually just misheard the lyric it was based on.”
Lastly, the author of the series shared which strip is his personal favorite so far, and he responded: “I'm really enjoying my new Oakey Dokie character I've made a couple of comics with, they've already won a big place in my heart.”
