My grandma (my favorite person in the whole world) passed away when I was 13 and I was destroyed. She passed away from pancreatic cancer, so she was very sick and thin when she died. At her funeral, I went up to her casket and was horrified at how she looked. I kept thinking omg this is how I’ll remember her. That night I cried myself to sleep. All of the sudden I felt someone sit next to me, I looked and it was my grandma. She put her hand on my thigh and said “I’m ok honey. And you are not going to remember me like that” and laughed her iconic laugh. I don’t remember the rest, but I woke up and to this day, I can’t remember what she looked like in her casket but I vividly remember what she looked like when she came to me that night. 24 years later, her sitting next to me is clear as day.
