Back to Chernobyl power plant on 25/26 April 1986 to prevent the nuclear disaster, or at least to limit the effects on civilians. To warn and protect people in the area. To inform the rest of the world. To cancel all outdoor festivities and immediately evacuate the city of Prypiat and surrounding villages. (Although, based on what we know today, it would have happened anyway somewhere else in the Eastern block.) Apart from the direct victims, the rate of cancers, especially thyroid and blood cancers increased dramatically in the years after the explosion. So many lives lost.

The whole 'going back in time and killing Hitler' thing always seemed a bit silly to me.
Firstly you have the moral implication of killing a child/baby. No matter what that child is going to do when it's older, it is still an innocent child.
Even if you could get past that, you need to recognise everything that came out of the war. The world would be in a much worse state if we did not develop the technological advances that we did during the war. Everything would still be coal and oil operated, the city smog would never have disappeared and the economy of the USA would have collapsed.
There would be no nuclear power, no satellites, no antibiotics, no blood transfusions, no superglue, no instant coffee, no computers, The list is almost endless.
No, to truly make the world a better place, I would go back to before my dog died and introduce her to as many people as possible!

well first of all, there was an entire Spongebob episode explaining why this is a bad idea (back to the past), but if there was anything, i would choose to change, it would be to have the holy land actually get taken back
