Hey Pandas, What Do People Do That Immediately Screams “Low Self-Esteem” To You?

Just speaking as someone who has low self-esteem (and depression) I do talk about myself a lot to other people, not because I'm vain or self-centered though.

It's because I just want someone to maybe remember me.

Making friends is difficult enough, it gets even harder when you're over 40.

When you have no one meaningful to share your life with, it's incredibly difficult to have self-esteem, since it always feels like no one wants you around, or even cares about you.

If no one else cares about you, that makes it difficult to learn to care about yourself, since you feel worthless.

Being alone is awful. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

They live life like nothing is ever going to work out for them.

Cruelty to make themselves feel better at the expense of someone else.

Putting a dollar amount in every conversation about things they own.

Driving a cybertruck or hummer, or any other p***s extender

No/very little eye contact - looking at the ground.

I can't believe this isn't on here yet. It feels almost like a cliche but: judging other people's appearances. It just screams, "I am terrified of being judged myself." I'm the type that will call people out on this and the truly insecure ones will get uber-defensive and start deflecting, which is along the lines of what they were doing in the first place with the unwarranted judgement; confirmation. 😏

They are constantly saying "Sorry", even if they aren't at fault. I finally had to tell my husband that a lot of the time, my "Sorry" is me being supportive, not me taking the blame.

When you give them a compliment like you look amazing or something and they just disagree.

People who continually post pictures of themselves on social media, in ridiculously posed situations. "Look at me, look at me!" No, thank you, I'd rather look elsewhere - you're far too busy looking at yourself to notice anyone else anyway. Low self-esteem means you crave attention. Huge red flag.

They only talk about themselves and rarely if ever ask about others’ interests, work, hopes, etc. How did they never learn how to have a real conversation? Are they simply not interested in people – yet somehow think their own lives are endlessly fascinating? It’s just baffling. But I know at least some of it is rooted in an insecurity about their own social abilities. I feel like offering a course on this subject.

They never try anything. Ever.

When people want validation for everything they do. Make a statement and then ask "am I not right?" Or trying something and saying "I hope I do the right thing". Take life by the horns. If you are wrong, learn from it.

When they start breaking down at the slightest ounce of criticism. I'm not kidding. I knew people like this. I feel sorry for them.

Those boys and girls (even if they are of adult age) that scream "PICK ME! PICK ME!" with their actions and words.

I used to work with a woman who would wear all this elaborate make-up. Three shades of eyeshadow and eyeliner and mascara. Blush and contour and highlighter. Lipliner and lipstick and gloss. We worked in a office, not a nightclub, btw.

At lunch, she'd go to the ladies, take off all this make-up, then put it back on again.

She was also the biggest b****h I've ever know. No coincidence.

Policing masculinity. "You're not a real man if you ____". Same goes for femininity.
Shítting on people who get plastic surgery

Name dropping.

Being a martyr.
Saying how much of a s**t person they are.
Constantly degrading themselves.
Never smiling.
Not trying or practicing anything, but complain they can't do anything.
