Guilt and shame. I don't want to go back for the holidays. I just want a week to myself. I have a feeling the result, however, will be subtle and not-so-subtle guilt trips.

An eye infection. My kid is sick and her eyes are so infected, I hope she gets better until Christmas and that the rest of the family won’t spend the holidays with sore eyes full of pus.

Gifts. Each year we tell people we don't want anything, we know times are tight for people, we'd sooner they spent any money on things for themselves, that would be the gift we want, to see them not having to struggle buying a thing for us.

I don't want to hear about Russia cowardly continuing to commit genocide in Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!

I hope I don’t get any more sweaters my grandma thinks are cute lol. She literally makes me put them on when I get them and checks for sizing and promptly hands my parents a gift receipt if it doesn’t fit so I can exchange it at stores like LLBean or Ann Taylor or something. I love that she tries I just feel so guilty

Massive rows - the usual family stuff! Last year I was floored by a virus from Xmas day up to the new year. Too ill to open my presents. So I definitely don’t want that again.
