Hey Pandas, I'm at a loss for what to do; that's why I'm turning to you. So here's the scoop:
My band teacher sometimes makes disparaging comments about me. It may just be a joke, but I am a little hurt by it. See, I have a tendency to speak about things I know with a lot of detail. Well, today, my teacher talked about tetanus and I corrected his knowledge (You just turn red, he said) and said that it is terrible and affects your nervous system. See, he told me to be quiet and that there is a reason why he makes sure I only speak a little and he ignores my questions. Admittedly, I can speak a lot and in a lot of detail, not filtering a lot, but honestly, I feel terrible because my words don't seem to be validated. Am I wrong for feeling this? And what should I do? What would YOU do?

First, no matter what you're feeling, it's not wrong. Your teacher shouldn't dismiss you. Some people don't enjoy being corrected, especially by a student. I would have said that maybe you should keep the charter to a minimum, HOWEVER since you wrote he said "told me to be quiet and that there is a reason why he makes sure I only speak a little and he ignores my questions"... That's not cool. Your teacher should respect you, even if they are annoyed by you. And they should answer your questions. YOU ARE THERE TO LEARN. As to advice, I don't know. I would double down and ask more questions (just as long as they were related to the topic(s). But honestly, I don't know if that would help. Maybe speak to a school counselor, or someone with the authority to speak to your teacher about their actions. I'm not sure if that's helpful. But just be yourself regardless.
On a side note my spouse is very knowledgeable, and VERY loquacious, he talks alot. I make jokes with him that every time I ask him a question his answer is a Ted Talk. However, when dealing with other people, honestly, they can be annoyed. Not with your teacher, but generally, try to learn to read people's reactions to see if they are feeling a bit overwhelmed during a conversation.
