PangeaSeed Foundation, in partnership with Nueve Arte Urbano, presented the latest edition of Sea Walls “Water Is One” - an initiative aimed to generate awareness and create dialogue exploring creative solutions surrounding the region’s freshwater environmental issues.
14 renowned Street artists (9 from Mexico, and 1 each from the U.S.A., France, Canada, Estonia, and New Zealand - see list below) worked to create 14 large-scale wall murals, exploring the aquatic history of the state and highlighting the problems affecting Queretaro's freshwater resources as well as solutions. Some of the topics were addressed by the artists are global warming, plastic pollution, climate change, regional social and cultural relationships, resource consumption and management, loss of biodiversity, history, and mythology related to water resources in the area.
“Water Is One,” the first of its kind in the region, bringing awareness for the protection of the oceans, clean water, and all hydraulic resources to the streets of Querétaro.
Featuring beautiful drawings of 14 international, national, and regional artists, this three-week public art project took place at the Educational and Cultural Center of the State of Querétaro (CECEQ) "Manuel Gómez Morín". The festival’s program included painting over 3000 square meters, as well as various events including panel discussions with artists and organizers, waterway clean-ups, water conservation, youth outreach, educational activities, and collaborative community events.
"Street art and activism can educate and inspire the global community to help save our water resources. Regardless of your location – large metropolitan city or small seaside village – all drains lead to the ocean and the ocean supplies us with every second breath we take. Earth cannot exist without healthy oceans and water resources,” said Tre' Packard, founder and executive director of PangeaSeed Foundation.

We are excited to collaborate with Nueve Arte Urbano to bring our unique message of ocean and water preservation to the Querétaro community." He concluded
Since its inception in 2014, the Sea Walls program has created over 300 graffiti drawings in over 12 countries with 200+ artists from 25 different nationalities. This was the first time the program was brought to central Mexico, highlighting Querétaro’s natural environment.
