I was on a camping trip with my family in Custer, South Dakota. The sky was clear and the stars were so bright. You could easily see the Milky Way's bright core with the naked eye. I set up my tripod, camera, and Intra-velometer and let the photos roll while I waited.
The next day I took a look at the images from the timelapse and noticed what appeared to be something hitting the atmosphere and exploding. After some research, I've learned that what I captured is called a "bolide" - a large meteor that explodes in the atmosphere. I consider myself super lucky to have pointed my camera at that portion of the sky at that very moment.
