Peter Gordon found a perfectly romantic way to show his love for his wife. For 25 years, he has placed a poem under her pillow almost every day. They had a beautiful life together and he cherished every moment they had together; sadly, she passed away in 2016 from cancer. Peter continued writing poems about his emotions and unending love for Allison.
We asked their children to say a few words: "My mum died in 2016 and we were all devastated. My sister and I knew that my dad had been writing poems for her, but we weren’t quite aware of the scale. My dad was really keen to sift through them and so he did that the summer after she died. It took months. He picked the best 300 or so of them. We decided a website dedicated to their love would be the best way to share them, but we would love to get them published. It’s been wonderful to have so many special recordings of them by actors and friends too. The thing I love most about the poems is the hope in them. Even those written after my mum’s death—and some of them are really quite devastating—are lifted by the same message: Love redeems. Even after death. We had to do something with them, to share them with people, and this has been part of the grieving process. I think she’d be very proud of him."
