The most serious crisis in the Western world is the crisis of certainty. No one can ever be wrong anymore, publicly or privately. It’s destroying our ability to think critically and solve problems. And every other problem listed here, every single one, is made more serious and in some cases is *only possible* because of the certainty crisis. And the scariest thing about it is that it’s invisible, because in order to acknowledge it in a productive way you have to be willing to acknowledge the possibility that you might be one of the people who are wrong. And no one wants to do that.
