An adorable video has emerged of a German Shepherd taking care of a litter of newborn kittens.
The large Alsatian is seen licking and nuzzling up to the set of four tiny kittens after they were found abandoned in a basket.
The dog's owner said she had been apprehensive about introducing her pet to the newborns, but quickly saw it take on a maternal role.
The video shows the dog licking clean the bunched up kittens, which appear to be just several hours old.
The German Shepherd is then seen surveying the kittens as it gets used to its new housemates.
The video later shows the kittens being fed using a tube, as they are too small to eat on their own.
The kittens are said to be healthy.
