The vulture and cobra on the brow represent Nekhbet and Wadjet, the two protective goddesses associated with Upper and Lower Egypt. The crossed crook and flail are pharaonic symbols of authority, tied directly to Osiris, the god of the afterlife, whom Egyptian pharaohs were believed to become after passing.
