Amanda Bynes Opens Up About Weight Gain Amid Depression Struggle: “[I] gained over 20 lbs”

Amanda Bynes recently took to social media to offer a rare glimpse into her personal struggles and her health journey.

The 37-year-old actress stepped back from the limelight in recent years after once being a ubiquitous presence on our screens as a talented child and young star. She has now given a heartfelt update to her followers about her mental health journey and its impact on her physical well-being.

Amanda revealed in a recent Instagram Story that she gained more than 20 lbs, to reach a total of 162 lbs, due to depression. She also set a goal for her physical fitness and said she wants to drop down to 110 lbs.

“I’ve gained over 20lbs in the past few months from being depressed,” the She's the Man star wrote. “I’m doing a lot better now and have learned to do opposite action when I don’t feel like working out or eating clean.”

“I weigh 162 lbs right now and want to get back to 110 lbs,” she added.

Several fans filled the comments section on social media with positive wishes for the actress.

“hun you’re strong & beautiful- I know you will find your peace,” one wrote, while another said, “You’ve got this! You’re still beautiful.”

“As long as you are happy,” another added.

“ I love and care for you so much!!!” one said.

Amanda has candidly spoken about her weight in the past and said her goal back in 2013 was 100 lbs.

Amanda, who was 26 at the time, made the revelation while sharing “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me” with Us Weekly.

“I gain weight quickly so I need to work out constantly,” was #11 on the list.

Coming in at #15 was her weight goal at the time.

“I moved to New York City and I love it! I lost 4 lbs. since I moved. I'm 121 lbs — my goal is 100 lbs,” she told the outlet.
