The world is full of mysteries that humanity is probably not mature enough to know, let alone understand. There’s probably no human on earth who hasn’t asked themselves questions like “why am I here?” or “what does the future hold for me?”
Well, among those same questions is an even more mind-boggling mystery that we ourselves have created, and that is “why don’t women’s clothing that should obviously have pockets not have pockets?” We as a species have come a long way, created technological marvels and went beyond our fleshy limits in many aspects, but apparently having pockets was too much to ask for at this point.
To illustrate how enormous this issue is, Bored Panda has covered the topic discussing all the times women were so sick of their small or non-existent pockets, they vocalized their frustration online.

This woman made an amazing dress that comes with actual pockets

However, hope is not lost. A woman with the username roxisasewingmachine on Imgur faced this issue head on and simply decided to make her own rose-red embroidered dress. With pockets, of course. "Sorry for the dusty mirror! I had a hard time getting a decent photo because of the sheen of the fabric. I still love the dress though," she wrote in her now-viral post. "

"I purchased the plaid lining for my red dress fabric a while back because I liked it and I knew I would eventually use it. I am always on the lookout for stretch cotton sateen because it is my favorite fabric to work with when making dresses. When I saw the beautiful burgundy fabric on sale at my local crafts store, I immediately thought of the lining at home and envisioned the dress I had to make. That is how it usually happens for me: I’ll spot something, oftentimes completely unrelated to dresses, and an idea comes to me in a snap. I get very excited to get to work on it right away while the inspiration is still fresh," Roxanne told Bored Panda.

She used burgundy stretch cotton sateen to make a Vogue pattern v9239 dress from scratch. The pattern didn’t have pockets in its design (sigh), so she simply designed and made her own. She went so far as to even install a side zipper.

When asked about her sewing skills, Roxanne told us: "I sew almost every day after work, and I find it to be very therapeutic. It’s a productive way of spending my time, and when I am finished with a project, I have a huge sense of accomplishment. Especially when I’ve run into problems, or if I’ve made major mistakes. I learn by just diving in and doing it. When I was very young, my mother received a sewing machine as a gift. I remember going on a field trip in grade school to a fabric mill and watching how woven fabrics are made. That was when my interest in sewing began. I went home and asked my mother if I could learn how to use her sewing machine. I studied the instruction manual and started by altering my older sister’s clothing to fit me. I would buy items from thrift stores and restyle them into completely different looks. Eventually, I got into cosplay and made my first costume of my favorite character – Cinderella."

"Over the years I developed my skills by learning additional techniques through various books, sewing blogs, and YouTube tutorials. One day my husband suggested I post my projects on Imgur. I was hesitant but soon SHOCKED about the incredible response. My favorite comments were from people who had fond memories of watching their parent or grandparent sew clothes. Some even said I inspired them to start sewing again because they remember how much they enjoyed it. That really warmed my heart. One of the main appeals of my first post was the inclusion of pockets in my cape. After that I began sharing nearly all of my dresses, emphasizing the pockets in the posts because it garnered such a great reaction. It’s no secret that women love pockets. There are many theories about why they are often excluded from ladies’ clothing (I have my own theories!), but rather than banter, I prefer to simply sew them into my new clothes and celebrate them with Imgur through my posts," the artist revealed to Bored Panda.
