The studs typically run every 16 inches on center. This makes for a surprisingly strong wall. The drywall is then taped at the seams and plastered over with a thin coat for texture and uniformity. Drywall is a faster and easier than the “wet” wall method of plastering a wall using lath and plaster where strips of thin wood “lath”, were tacked down horizontally across studs and spaced out about 1/4” (6mm) and thick layer plaster is applied over it for texture and uniformity
