95 Times Reality Served Up Something So Unexpected People Had To Share It
95 Times Reality Served Up Something So Unexpected People Had To Share It

There is a Mongolian saying that children learn to ride a horse before they learn to walk. A saying rooted in Mongolia’s nomadic past, when people lived without permanent settlements and horseback riding was an essential part of everyday life.

Mom Has Eye-Opening Talk With Her Adult Children During Family Gathering, Left Blindsided Completely
Mom Has Eye-Opening Talk With Her Adult Children During Family Gathering, Left Blindsided Completely

OP posted an Update: I just want to update. DD and I had a really long heart to heart tonight. She was honest and said it sometimes bothered her (these were her words), I apologised without putting any blame on her etc. DD was pretty open with me and said it didn’t bother her as much as it could have as while she was the scapegoat for those things, there were things we’d never blame her for but would her siblings so she felt over all it balanced out. She also said she knew her siblings were exploiting it but didn’t really care as she did the same to them with other things. She also told me that when she thinks of her teen years that it doesn’t make the top 5 things she remembers us for but rather recalls us being supportive of her dreams, always there when she needed us and making her feel loved. She then told me that I shouldn’t overthink it as it doesn’t bother her. She said she was appreciative of me apologising. The call ended with us just making plans for Christmas and chatting

Woman Celebrating Her PhD Delivers Savage Response To Male Criticism, Internet Joins In
Woman Celebrating Her PhD Delivers Savage Response To Male Criticism, Internet Joins In

In Finland, a PhD is awarded with a top hat and a sword. This should be more common. There should be a scabbard and a baldric to wear with gowns for ceremonies.

47 Stories That Reveal The Emotional Toll Of Growing Up With A Narcissistic Mom

Same goes for work. Dear managers, please, PLEASE, tell people what it is right away, or in meeting invites: provide an agenda and/or a telling headline (catch-up is fine, if you really just want to catch up and know how your team member is doing!). If it's more serious, make it known to them, so they can prepare (should not be a curtesy, but a requirement. It's not fair to walk into a gun fight only armed with a knife (not literally, you know what I'm talking about!)). Edit: wording

Tattoo Artists Share The Times They Had To Tell People "Hell No", And Here Are The 35 Worst

You know what's disrespectful? BP censoring H.O.L.O.C.A.U.S.T. Those survivors experienced the worst of humanity. The least we can do is say it LOUD to help prevent it happening again.

50 Disappointed Tourists Share Travel Destinations From Around The World That Aren’t Worth It
50 Disappointed Tourists Share Travel Destinations From Around The World That Aren’t Worth It

January is the best month to visit Venice: barely any tourists, the smell is bearable (even close to the harbour) and no acqua alta (flooding). Furthermore, if you stay longer than a day, locals will recognise you. I got my morning coffee at the same cafe every day. On the second day, the barista already asked me if I was there the day before. When I said yes, the follow-up question was, "How long will you stay?". The following days, my coffee was ready as soon as I entered the cafe. People in Venice are just fed up with the "couple of hours" tourists. If you stay longer and bring real business to their city, they open up very quickly and give valuable recommendations for restaurants and/or hidden must-see sites which you usually do not find in any tourist guide book :)

12 Safety Tips From A Crime Reporter That Might Just Save Your Life

In Germany We have the 5 W rule for calling the emergency lines (110 for police and 112 for fire or medical emergencies) It's Where? - Name the exact place or address (if it's not easily accessible: tell them and offer to wait at a visible spot to give directions once police/help arrives) What? - Describe briefly, but as precisely as possible what happened or what you see. Who? - Give your details (Name and Surname) How many? - How many affected people/victims are there? Wait! - Keep your phone close if they call you back for further questions and if the incident is not easily visible/accessible, go to a visible spot along the road and as soon as you see official help arriving, draw their attention and give them directions
